Clutch
I used a cable tie to hold in clutch lever ( for about 2 months) while working on the bike when I finished went for a spin and cable snapped now after replacing the cable I'm finding it hard to select gears. The new cable needed adjustment at the lever in the middle and at the engine end to take up the slack any ideas what could be wrong.1983 GS 650 gl

I've read that it doesn't really matter which (or all) of the adjustment points you use, so long as the final figures are arrived at.1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

When your cable snapped, your clutch pivot lever (the gizmo sticking out of crankcase) likely spun out out of correct position. There should be very little slack here before you feel clutch resistance- otherwise the hand lever won't have enough throw.1981 gs650L
