    Shifter spring problem

Anyone have any idea why the shifter stays in the up position, but works in the down position?

What kind of bike is this?

I can't really see the spring in the video, but it looks like it might be either out of place or one end is broken.

      It’s a 77’ GS750

It’s the spring, it’s bent on the top side where it pivots on the case.

A buddy stopped by and looked at it and said instantly the spring was curved which did not allow enough pressure/energy in the spring to return it to the original position.
