The quick test in my sig I think was developed by Jim posplayr. It's a good first check but by no means a replacement for the Stator Pages. Jim's not been around lately. He's a real wiz with the electrical stuff. I could be wrong here but I thought bulbs didn't get weak, thought they just work til they didn't.

They may have got over-volted by a sufficient amount to seriously shorten their lives.
I've only just replaced the speedo, tacho and other indicator bulbs in mine, after 40 years - despite a few stators biting the dust, the system never got over-volted, just terminally under-volted a few times. 40 years, though. That's some lifespan, and they weren't dud, at that. Just decided to do some preventative replacements.
