GS650G all welded joints except 1... Is this normal?

We are assembling the GS650G and got to the exhaust. The exhaust is completely welded together except for the right side muffler.

When I bolt the exhaust on the bike it looks like the #4 head pipe is contacting the right downtube under the ignition cover. I can't seem to get the rear mounting point to line up.

My experience with the older bikes is there were 2-3 clamps. 1 for left to right sides at the 2-3 crossover and clamps on each muffler section.

    Thank you.

Sounds like somebody slipped on a muffler at some stage.

EDIT: stock it should have welded mufflers, and a clamped-in "H"-pipe, so three clamps total.

Are you saying that the only clamp in the system is holding on the RH muffler?

Yes, on several Suzukis of this era, I think the welded-on muffler is OEM...I know other bikes that came this way too...it's just that most have had their mufflers REPLACED with slip-ons by now...as to crossover pipe, it varies...

lookhere for an 81 650G to see specifically what was OEM.

Gorminrider: The fiche is exactly what I'm used to seeing.

I have a gs700e pipe which pulls the center 2 head pipes.

We pulled the PO's header wrap, loosened up the brackets on pipe and bike and with a little prying were able to get bolts lined up. The right tube is thousands close to the header pipe.
