    cam chain oil seal

    hello, and thank you to accept me, i'm french and i really hope to find the answer on that form. i have a 1981 gsx 750 (gs75x)
    i hope that i am posting on the goo plce...

    i loose oil from my cam chain tensioner, that's not beetween the engine and the tensioner but in the tensioner. under the spring.

    I trying the find that seal but i can't find it, is anyone can tell me the reference of that part or the exact sizes (inside diameter, outside diameter and thickness) ?

        The dimensions are 10mm ID, 16mm OD and 4mm deep. I have found the Honda part # 91259 - VMO - 000 to be a better option and preferable in performance. It fits the clutch actuating arm [I think] of a recent Honda ATV [200cc] and should be under $10. It is 4.5mm deep, but that isn't a problem.

            Yes, the same seal.

            I've been running the Honda seal for years. The original Suzuki seal tends to harden and shrink over time, and the shaft is usually loose and wobbles, and the seal can get loose in the housing. The Honda seal has more flexibility to deal with worn shafts, and fits tighter in the housing.

              I have rebuilt a couple tensioners, and used the bwringer tutorial (see post #2).
              bwringer tutorial is correct. It does describe that seal and two orings and the gasket.


              In addition to the seal you are asking about, the little oring on the set screw is the next suspect to leak, especailly after operate that set screw.
              THe big oring is the hardest to change ..... and not as likley to leak (according to bwringer).

                Several people have rebuilt their cam chain tensioners without replacing the large o-ring. It can be really hard to remove the large nut without damaging anything, so it's perfectly fine to skip this. The large nut is threaded in and there's not really a way for this to leak.

                Good hint about the Honda seal -- I could add the part number 91259-VM0-000 to my instructions in case it's easier to find a Honda dealer.

                  I used a viton seal for the tensioner bit pricey though. 10x16x4 on this page. https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p7...duct_info.html

                  i rebuilt mine without renewing the oring under the large nut no leaks ( attempted to undo nut with a battery powered hammer gun would not budge it so left alone)
