    Oil pan

Hey guys, replacing the gasket for my oil pan. Can’t find much for torque specs.
its an 1982 gs850glz. Does anyone know the order and torque specifications for the bolts ?

For the order of tightening, you can use the valve cover or head sequence as a general guide for most planar surfaces...

In the shop manual, these aren't specifically mentioned BUT goto page 402 where there's a chart for non-specified bolts...

Ididn't look up the bolt size but guessing it's one of these:
    For 6mm bolts without a topmark or a "4",torque is 3-5 ft/lb (topmark7 is 6-8.5)
    For 8mm bolts without a topmark or a "4" torque is 7-11.5 ft/lb (topmark 7 is 1.8-2.8)

don't use a big torque wrench -I don't consider these or similar tools to be accurate at their lowest setting-use a small one that indicates inch/ lbs so that your setting is in the middle of settings.

Multiply "ft/lbs" x12 for "inch/lbs" Or use the metric

If you don't have this manual, look for it at

Pans and covers are flexible. Think flattening a sheet of paper on a table.
Start from the middle and work to the edges in criss cross pattern leaving the corners last.
      Here is the parts fiche

Parts 3 and 4 are 6mm diameter and 30mm and 25mm long respectively.
Look at the last four digits in the p/n. -6258 means 6mm x 25 long. Don't ask what the 8 is?
Check the screws you have, don't assume what came out is right.
If a long screw goes into a short hole it can bottom out but not enough to notice and it can leak.
Unless you have a torque wrench of the right range for these small things it's better to go by feel.
Using a large tool at the very bottom of it's range is not a good idea.
It's all to easy to get fixated on the tool and strip threads.
