How do I stop this oil leak?

Its right above the oil filter cover, like in the middle of the engine. It seems quite slight, but Id like to know what it is and how to deal with it.

Its hard to get good pictures because of the exhaust.

First step is to clean the engine thoroughly so you can see where the oil is coming from.

If you're lucky the tach connection on the head is the cause.

In that case here's a rebuild guide :

My tach cable was just replaced because it wasn't taching. Sure hope that is it.

It is pretty clean now (as clean as you can get it without using brushes), sadly I promised my wife to go to Eggum or Reinebringen for a daytrip tomorrow, so no time for riding so I am a bit limited in time (she says I need to get familiar with the bike before she'll join).

The rubber things on the side, are they glued or just pushed on?

There is nothing in the cable that would cause or cure a leak in that location.

The leak would be in the o-rings inside and around the drive unit that the cable screws into.

If you mean these rubber pads between the fins, they’re just pressed in. I’m surprised they stay in as well as they do, which isn’t very well at all. I’ve bought a few over the years when I’m placing an order for something else anyway. Mine are a a stack of 4. I think yours are individuals. Said to reduce vibration. I don’t know. Never noticed a difference with or without them.
