83 to 85 head difference?
Howdy guys and gals. Had to ask as tomorrow Im planning on switching these if possible. I have a 85 gs 550 esf that needs to have the head switched out because the previous owner was a nimrod and tried to put a 2 into 1 exhaust on and snapped off the exhaust studs in the head. I have tried to pull these with an ez out but to no avail So luckily I also have an 83 with a complete engine with perfect exhaust studs so it hit me why not just swap the heads should be the same; same bike just different years. Anybody got any obvious complaints with this idea please speak up. Thanks for any future help.

The part number seems different but maybe they are still the same. Hopefully, someone will weigh in.1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser

I just checked as well and it is the same part from 83 to 86 so should be no problem, but I will also second the idea of just swapping the motors vs messing with the guts, less risk unless there is something wrong with the 83 already.
BTW I still really like my 85 gs550e, but I think I should buy some shares of Pirelli as I seem wear out tires, but it sure is fun.1981 Suzuki GS250T
