    1100E vs 1150 seat differences?

    Hey all,
I have been eyeing JoeD's 1150 (nice job by the way) a few posts down the list, and was really taken by the 1150 seat. Anyone nkow how different the seat pan is from my 83 1100E? Mine will need replacement/recovering soon. I was considering the Sargents route, but I reall like the shape of the stepped 1150 seat.
    Any ideas?

The one piece 83 1100 seat pan hooks at the front, latches in the middle on both sides and locks down at the rear. The 1150 split seat front half has a double hook on each side at the front and a latch at the rear. There is a crosspiece on the frame that runs under the seam between the two seat halves with the lock assembly.mating latch. The rear half slides aft into a locking tongue and its front edge is bolted down to the front seat cross member latch support. The split 1150 seat could be mounted to an
83 1100, but you would nave to fabricate and weld in the needed mount points and also recut and modify the tailcone where it meets the seat to make it fit. My stock 83 1100 seat is about 12 inches wide and 27 inches long. My stock 1150 split seat is 13 1/2 inches wide and 29 inches long.
Also, the mating angle of the seat to the tank is different, so adding foam and reupholstering would probably be needed to make it look decent.
I think it would be easier and cheaper to split the stock 83 seat you already have an fabricate brackets to make it work, then recover it.

      thanks Earl,
I guess I will try to find a spare 1100E seat pan and experiment (don't want screw mine up, and have to ride on the frame rails, upholstery is one of those things I am still learning).
I still really like the 1150 seat, I guess it wil give me avisual model to work from.

      thanks
