Sargent Seat Covers?

Any idea what Sargent typically charges if you send the pan and foam to them for a little renewing? I'd be fine with just putting on a new cover, but I think the pan's going to need a bit of refreshing and I'm not sure if I want to handle that end of it.

On the seat cover you ordered, which type of vinyl did you go with, the one that came up when you selected your model or did you pick something different from the options that they gave at the site. For instande the "premium" vinyls.

I used what was assigned to the choice for my bike. I did not get the premium material. The standard material feels and looks exactly like the OEM. That being the case it should last me another 15 yrs. 8)

One update I did make to this seat was I did not apply enough adhesive to the sides. That's why you see the creases. It looks even better after I went back and touched it up!

I put an aftermarket cover on my yamaha maxim about 6 years ago, cant remember the brand, wasn't a sargents, it went on no sweat and looked good for the 6 mos I kept that bike.

for the 850 I contacted an upholstery shop that I do business with, and they quoted me 75 bucks to redo the seat I have as long as I dont want any custom materials. even better they'll send someone to pick the seat up from work and drop it off when its done. think Im gonna give them a shot , sounded like he does a bunch of em.

I have an '83 GS850 just like BriTXbike (well, mostly '83). Anyway, the seat is the same, but my bike has about 68,000 miles, most of that with my largish butt in the saddle.

The seat foam in the front portion of the seat is completely knackered. Done for. Finito. It looks and feels normal enough, but it takes less than two minutes of riding before my, er, seat bones are contacting the steel seat pan. Owie. There's no firmness left at all.

So far, my super duper air cushion has saved the day, but I'm going to order up a new seat cover soon. I'd like to entirely replace the foam in the front half of the seat.

Does anyone know of a source for motorcycle seat foam? I'm going to need a pretty good size hunk. I was thinking of heading down to CRC2 to see if they would sell me a big hunk of foam from the rear portion of some otherwise ruined seat.

I've seen a few web pages where a guy discusses the best ways to sculpt a seat, and he uses rebond foam to build up areas the way he wants them.

Any ideas?

GS1100e seat

I just had Sargent recover my seat and they did a great job. Looks very similar to stock design and the stitiching is very crisp. Fast turnaround. I can't say enough good about the company.
