Help me decide on painting the inlay (or not) on my wheels!

OK, I am getting away from the early 80's "everything black" theme. I have 2 choices on my wheels:

Option A: completely blasted, and polished perimeter with no paint, (leaving a bare aluminum matte finish in place of the black paint)

Option B: polished perimeter, with gold in place of the black paint (replicates the '82 KZ1000R Eddie Lawson wheels). Heres a pic of a Lawson bike:

How about some feedback? I dont know how gold would look over the red bodywork.......

Well, I love the look of polished perimeter/painted spokes. Gold should look great on a black bike.

I expect to do mine in red.

(edit): oops, you're getting AWAY from the black look; gold with red would be awesome.

I've been thinking of the same two choices, I still cant decide though. I've recently thought about painting the center silver with polished edges. I would probably go with the gold if I had gold somewhere else on the bike.

Gold for sure! Especially if there is anything else gold somewhere on the bike to kind of tie it in.

I'm considering painting the bike Blue with gold accents and the wheels Gold with blue where the black is now.

The gs850g I just bought has all black tank, tailpiece, side covers and fenders and of course wheels. I decided to add some colour by painting the wheels red and polishing the circumference and spoke edges. The bike looks a lot sharper now. I also painted the black accent around the Suzuki emblem on the two side covers the same red colour. When I get a camera for christmas I''II post the picture, Thanks Ted

What color are you doing the bike?

Gold will offset against most colors.

              Black, just easier to clean.

              Who's doing it for you?
I need some paint and blasting done on a bike.
              Let me know........

If you are doing the bike red, how about red on the wheels instead of gold??
You can always take a picture of your wheels and play around with the colors on your computer before you actually paint them.

                  Hi there,

Just my two cents worth, the GSX750EF/ES in the mid 80's had gold wheel spokes with polished rims. Here's a link to a pic:

I had one of these a few years ago and they looked pretty neat in the flesh.
