Shoot flames out of exaust

Ahh the good ol' days of ripping off "exhaust cannons". Rolling down a hill, shut off the ignition, pump the gas twice (severall times if you had BIG ballz), then click the ignition back to run and........KABOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!! ( and there goes ANOTHER $40 Napa muffler blown wide open at the seams) LOL

I blew a few mufflers off of vehicles doing that too.

I had an old Triumph that used to do that once and a while. Looked pretty cool along with the red "Sparky" spark plug caps!

Mine does the same thing, I think, I've never looked, but it sounds like a machine gun if I come leave it in gear and decel from 8-9K in 1st.


You may want to be carefull, this is illegal in almost all state, the flame thrower.

You might want to keep in mind that youll need to decrease your oil change intervals somewhat because of the raw fuel factor. Its definitely worth it though. \\/

You could always wire the coil through an electronic car flasher, that will save you the hassle of flicking the switch off and on. You can also use a shorty spark plug like the ones used for cars with headers. I do remember seeing something about doing that on TV before. You need to put the spark plug as far back in the exhaust as possible.

Use a momentary switch, like the starter button. That will keep it from dieing, if you don't hold it.

If you break a float post and do a bad job fixing it, your float will hang up and give you too much fuel....that's how I did it!

this is how old hot rods used to do it:

they would splice in a swich from one of the wires that runs to another coil, then runs to a spark plug they would put right near the tip of the exhuast.

then they would rev it up to about 3 grand and hit the switch. and that cylinder stops firing and blows gas through the exhuast and the plug in the exhuast tip sparks and ignites the gas. and you have flames

although this makes for some serious flames, it floods the cylinder with gas, that causes the rings to burn up fairly quickly.

Even easier solution - and all of you can try it without buying any hardware or modifying your bike in any way.



It's called the kill-switch backfire trick.....



Get up to cruising speed at moderate revs - 4k-5k should work. Hold the throttle steady and flick the kill switch off for a second and then back on. The kill switch will kill the ignition, but the engine will keep spinning and sucking gas from the carbs thru the cylinders and pumping raw fuel out the exhaust. When you turn the switch back on, the engine will fire back up due to the spinning rear wheel (bump-start) and ignite the raw fuel in the exhaust system. Good for a nice flame and a loud backfire.

Sounds like a terrorist attack if you do it downtown at night between tall buildings..... So I've heard.

No comment on potential damage to your exhaust system.



YMMV - just make sure not to pull in your clutch or close the throttle when you kill the bike, and brace yourself for the drag while the engine's off. Jus takes a second.
