Hey Ramjet How ya going mate,
First Of all is the motor already apart? if it is, bead blasting would be the way I would go,But if it is still intact then applying paint stripper should be ok just dont lay it to thick around the Gaskett areas and make sure you get all left over stripper off and wash her down with some soapy warm water.
what ever parts of the motor you are going to spray get some wet and dry and key the areas so the paint has a better adhesion,
      Good luck Cheers Brownie.

        hi

thanx for the reply. the motor will be coming apart so maybe i can do a bit of both. i was just unsure of how the paint stripper would react with the aluminium, so htanks for clearing that up.

        cheers ramjet

          Paint Stripper ok

I just finished stripping my Black CBX engine with aircraft aluminum stripper from Pep Boys. It gets off 99 percent of the paint without damaging the metal beneath. The metal temp needs to be up to at least the min recommended on the can to work the best. You can heat with a heat gun for the tougher spots. You will still have to do some wet sanding to remove some stubborn paint spots. I am going to buff out my engine and coat it with teflon based wax instead of repainting. Post some pics when you are done. Good luck
