      Lowering a gs

I lowered my GS close to 3 inches but I did not take the lowering block route. My way is not for the faint at heart. I bought 2006 road king shocks and cut out my upper studs and center punched and drilled em out for 1/2 inch studs. then I maybe a new shackle bracket on the right side and put a longer stud in on the drive side. Heres a pic or two to show ya.

        one more picture

This is what the bike looks like stance wise now. The shocks I used were 11 inchs long which is a good 2 inches shorter then the stock air shocks the bike came with. The ride is stiffer but I like it alot the bike corners so much better. The fairing is gone now so I will take some new pics of the bike as a whole and send ya. Anyone wanting full fairing and hard bags and all mounting hardware get ahold of me I got it all!!

          lowering blocks and other ideas

I have an 80 GS 1000L and I'm trying to lower the bike. I have stock shocks on it and my question is how short can I go? The bike is somewhere between 2-3 inches too tall. I'm all of 5'4". Any thoughts or combination of thoughts would be great.

Got them on and WOW I love the look. Sorry no pics yet. The last bolt that goes through the frame is to long and on the first set ot tracks it hit the tire and cut a groove in it. Only real problem is my chainguard won't work it hit's the new shock location.

I have a 79 GS1000L and am contemplating the lowering thing also, can you not just find shorter socks for the rear? Also, how do you go about lowering the front to match? Or are you stuck with a nose high look?

You raise the fork tubes in the triples.
