how do I make he engine shine?
I've got a bike that is in great shap mechanically....a 1979 GS850...BUT the metal parts are kinda dingy looking. The tank and sides I can paint, but how about those engince/ clutch covers...any advice on restoring their luster, or do I need to buy new ones?Tags: None

I've just started on mine. If you do a search you'll find a couple different ways. They both involve stripping the preexisting clear coat that's there. One involves various grade of steel wool. I am going the wet sanding method... Start at 400, then 800, 1000, 1500, and 2000, followed by metal polish until it shines. Then wax

Some more incentive to make 'em shiny.
I used buffs and compounds.
And on the seventh day,after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

I best not let my bike see that pic or she'll neva start for meh agin.... hell I dun even polish my visor until day looks like night.... sigh8-[

oh my freakin word thats hot!!! I was going to completely black out the 550 engine, but Im thinking blacked out heads, polished cases, after seeing some of these engines!!! they look great!

Be careful when polishing your engine. Chances are, it won't stop there. You'll become an addict!
