Help with cam covers with hidden screws

I found some round cam covers on a GS650 in a junk yard that had "hidden" screws. There were two notches cut out toward the bottom of the covers, I assume to access some screws inside? Is anyone familiar with these? I want to buy them, but I can't figure out how to get them off. I didn't want to pry on them... they seem to be on nice and snug. Do they just pop off, or is there something up in there that gets loosened up or unscrewed? I looked up in the notches but couldn't see anything. Thanks!

    Have fun!!

Some argue that you can take them off when the valve cover is still installed, but i don't beleive that is possible. There's two small screws up under the notches... On my 650 valve cover, i tried to get them off with it on, but i couldn't do it.

    Good luck.

They can be taken off (good luck getting them back on though) without removing the valve cover, with one of those "L" shaped screwdrivers (phillips). But it's MUCH easier with the valve cover off.

Keep in mind those covers will not work on your bike if you have the other style (direct screw-on through the side). The "hidden screw" type bolt from the bottom, straight up from the notches.

I,ve used a screw tip for a cordless drill and a 1/4" ratchet wrench to remove the screws. they're a pain. when I reinstalled them I went to the local hardware store and replaced them with allen heads. It can be done without removing the cam cover. just take your time and patience you will get 'em
