New look for my '80 GS1000G

Before & After. There is a before the before but I don't have a picture of that. (It was too ugly to take a picture of then.)

New bars, grips & fairing. What do think?

      Hey, looks nice.

Tell us about the mufflers. Header pipes look stock.

Very nice. I used to have an 850 with those huge Vetter bags.

Rear wheel is stock GS1000G, but front wheel is off an 82 or 83 850 or 1100. Both wheels are now marked tubeless.

        Nice bike.

Of course with those H-D mufflers you must scowl at everyone and only wave at similar Zooks with the same modification. BTW, I like it.

            You forgot backrest!

Nice look. What brand is the fairing, and where did you get it? My brother in law is looking for something similar for his Nighthawk.

Those are Hardley mufflers. They sound pretty nice, not loud but a little more throaty than stock.

                Hey Gramps,

That kind of freaked me out. I never noticed it but you're right they're different. I even scrubbed them by hand and still didn't realize it. You've got a eye for detail. (I better get my eyes checked!)

No no I'm an equal opportunity waver. I even wave at those real Hardley Ableson riders too. (Sometimes they don't wave back though.)

Oh yes, the back rest too.

The fairing is a Lockhart fairing. You can find them on Ebay and also at Lockharts website.

How much wind does the fairing push away? Would it fit with stock bars? I have the same model bike same colour & a fairing like a cop for want of a better word, currently removed.... I like yours much better!!

Where did you get your backrest from?

I have a set of Krauser hard panniers, not decided whether to fit or not... if I ever go touring I guess...

                        Cheers,

                            Dan,

I not sure if the fairing would work with stock bars. Maybe if you pull them in a little. The fairing only helps in the mid section, chest and below unless you lean over.

The backrest I found on Ebay, I made it work by adding some tubing and drilling some holes. Worked out pretty well.

v nice. Thanks. Just thought it might help keep the missus happy... have to put my rack back on I guess

Been thinking about adding the panniers back on, I wasn't sure at all & now looking at yours I'm still undecided... I guess the only way is to bolt them up!!!

Shame the fairing won't fit. I'm going to put the one I have back on & give it another try, maybe I'll cut it down myself eventually (it's a translucent one) to get the shape I want.

Thanks once again, it's nice to see one the same colour in a similar state on here.
