With shipping to Sargents, I'm in for about $160. One thing I wasn't expecting is that the seat is now very soft where it used to be like sitting on a brick.

160 that's not bad for look of the seat. Maybe I need to look into getting mine redone now.

Mine is like sitting on a brick, too. I just figured it was the nature of the beast... wow. That looks great. Probably has to feel 100% better too.

I'll let you know when I get it on the road. Sure beats the blanket I've been sitting on while testing out the bike around the neighborhood. I'm not sure how much foam they added to the seat but it feels like new.

Paint's due back in about 3 weeks. Once I get her together I'll be posting some more pics.

Is this 'Sargents' place online, or a local shop?

If it's the same one I'm checking out then it's online. Pearson, what version is that. I have been looking for one for my 78' GS550 and can't really tell which is which by the drawings:? . Yours looks snappy, I like:-D. The process looks a little confusing to me. What would you recomend?

http://www.sargentcycle.com/custserv.htm They're very helpful, give em a call. I paid $11 to ship to them in Fla. and had it back in about 1.5wks.

On this page: http://www.sargentcycle.com/csupholste.htm I originally was going with Image 8 but because I chose to add the CarbonFX on the top ($20 upcharge) the sales guy suggested I go with Image 7. They have a great discount coupon online for November. Spend sometime on the website and check out all the links then give the sales guy a call. He's pretty good at walking you thru the process and makes it pretty painless.

Looks like we have about the same seat if yours is stock. You might consider adding a colored welt cord to match the color of your bike but they'll do about anything you can dream up. All it takes is $$

Thanks for the info. I like the internet for how much you can find out so fast, but when it comes to getting my order right I just like talking to a person. It sounds like sargents does it right. Right now, I'm having some issues with getting the bike running, so I guess my money will head down that trail for a while.

Thanks for the tip for seat re-coverering. Sargent's did a great job on your seat, and that's a fair price.

Got any pics of it installed on the bike?

Are the seat pans the same for the 77 flat seat and the 78-79 stepped seat? I have two 78 stepped seats with good pans and the 77 flat seat on my bike is rotted to hell. Recovered your seat looks like the old flat seat and although I know that suzuki still sells the seat - recovering is 1/2 the price.

No pics installed yet. I'm getting the tank, tailpiece and covers painted right now, finishing up some other mods. Should have it together in just a few weeks. I could snap a pic of the seat on but with no tail piece, might not help you though?? I have no idea if the pans are the same, maybe someone else knows or I could take a pic of the bottom for you, that might help. Otherwise, does it feel like it's just foam? If so, they can contour it to any shape you want. Sargents wanted me to take a close look at the metal edges of the pan to be sure it was going to be in good enough shape to withstand recovering. You'd be looking for rust, soft metal, etc. Thankfully mine was fine.
