    GS1000 with GS1150 fairing??

Herman is willing to part with his fairing. I love the design. Here's the Q.

How to I make it fit?

    78 gs1000 and an 85 (?) gs1150 fairing

Shouldn't be that tough as long as you get the complete setup. It attaches at the neck of the frame and just below the tank.

        What Billy said.
I am in the process of adding an 84 1150 fairing to my 83 GS1100E.
You will have to make some brackets to match up with your frame and all but nothing too major.

doesn't the 1150 have a bracket that threads into the steering head tube? If using the stock bracket you would have to drill and tap the 1100 neck. There are also 2 threaded bungs on the down tubes for the mid fairing stays to bolt to. Not sure how you would get around to attaching with out doing more drilling and tapping or welding.

The 1150 bracket goes to the frame behind the steering head. The 1100's frame,at least my 83, has a hole already in the frame.

It is just a case of fabricating another bracket to attach there.
The 83 frame has the 2 "bungs" already. The 82's do not but there should be some way to fabricate there also.

Looked at the picture last posted and Thought about it a bit. It's different from both my 1150 frames. I see where you shouldn't have much problem fabricating one to fit

Ah, so that's how it goes.8-[
I never knew that as I didn't get a good chance to look at the donor 1150.
                Thanks for the help.

It's a tapped lug welded to the steering neck.

                      Thanks.
So I guess I will go with my idea of a separate bracket that meets up with the 1150's bracket.

I think that a piece of 3/4" flat strap will probably work just fine using the holes that you were going to use in the frame.
