My real opinion on how GSs look

What a hilarious start to this thread. I especially like the praise of the butt-ugly Captain America bike. No front fender, no front brake, just an accident waiting to happen. I guess some members just need to get a life?

Okay this thread has to be a joke perpetrated by Isaac. In the event that it isn't please read the following:

First off Isaac you come across like a pretentious dick with an incredible regard for his own opinion, vocabulary and ability to articulate a sentence. However, your command of the English language isn't nearly what you believe it is. You're a legend in your own mind I guess.

Secondly, I don't care for the L model GS bikes or for any bike in that type of cruiser style. It's too hunched up and compact and needs to be stretched into a much more appealing, and I would think comfortable, shape. The fact is that these bikes are 25 plus years old. Some of them were ahead of their time in terms of style; others not so much. Some are dated looking and classic; others appear more modern. Nearly all of them were over-engineered mechanically and that's why they are still on the road.

People fell in love with different styles according to their own tastes and the point in their life that the bike was introduced. For me the GS1100E, '82 in my book, was the summit of the GS in terms of style, function, comfort, muscle and an air of timelessness. That being said all these bikes contributed to the history of the machine that we all appreciate and are passionate about.

Some of us like one kind; others like another. My GS1100E is most likely not as attractive to someone that likes an L model as it is to me and vice versa. I stop just to look at my bike and admire the beauty of the machine. I appreciate the fact that I have it and that I have been able to do the things I have with it. The moral of the story is don't be a dick Isaac and don't knock other people's bikes. They love them and they mean a lot to them.

PS (That means Post Script Isaac) Tracy's bike is a machine of vision and beauty. It is one of the best looking bikes I have seen. The orange really works and I like the finishing touch of the orange filler in the rear peg brackets. That would be a bike I'd be proud to own.

I've plowed my way through 90% of this thread as a GS1000 L owner... which happens to be my first bike. A damn hard read, I must say.

A family member mentioned that he had a friend with a 78-80 GS 1000 (x) available, so I checked it out on the net. After looking at every model of those production years, I told him that if it wasn't a GS1000 L, I wasn't interested.... The pulled back bars just do something for me, the front fender can be painted, and the Wes Cooley deal couldn't be farther from my personal style. I saw major potential in the pics he sent to me a month later, and I owned the bike in my mind as soon as I saw them.

I've only owned my '79 GS1000 L a month or so, but have already personalized it a quite a bit, and more parts are already on the way. I'm very pleased with the progress! The point is that the bike I had in mind wasn't the stock GS1000 L, and what I have I mind will be stylish to ME, if not too far removed from the original bike. Everyone has their own image in mind when they decide to buy a GS....

That said, the OP has some serious issues which have no place in a community forum.

I'm inclined to read as much of these forums as possible regarding my particular flavor of the Suzuki GS, and find it a pity that the mods will allow things to get so far out of hand.... IMHO, the sum of the OP's posts don't offset the time I've wasted today reading the two most abusive threads he's penned.

And yes, I've played admin and mod. You just have to choose between your readers and the trolls, and ban the true pr!cks by IP and subnet.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. Yes, you wasted your time, but nobody forced you to read his tripe. To play devil's advocate, what most people who disagree with Isacc are intimating in their responses is that people are allowed only to express positive opinions on a community forum. I disagree.

Whether you love or hate the bikes, you're entitled to air your opinion - why people get upset because others have a different opinion than them is beyond me. It's impossible that we all have the same views on every topic, so surely you've come across this before? In other words, get used to it...

Oh, and about my opinion on the GS L series - who gives a fat flying pink rat's a$$?

Regent, this forum is almost un-moderated. We control ourselves. Wide latitude is given nearly everyone to express his/her opinion, so matter how far out that opinion might be. Stick around for a while, and you'll learn who is worth paying attention to, and on which topics.

I wasted dang near an hour reading this thread. I waste much more time than that doing even less productive/enlightening/whatever things. So Isaac doesn't like the L. I was quite surprised to see this thread go on 13 pages long. Who has time? You don't care that I think the 82 & 83 Kats are the coolest thing on two wheels. I don't care that you think L's are cool/ugly/whatever. What I find baffling is the fact that I'm posting a reply to a thread I couldn't give two rusty turds for.

i would have to say that i am not too fond of the way stock gs's look either..... they just dont "flow" very well... some look good stock but for the most part i am more partial to bikes that look more modern. just my personal opinion.

on my gs 1000L i like the way the front fender hugs the front tire,then you have the back fender about 6 inches up from the rear tire, then you have that HUGE tail light.I like the shape of the tank,i like the instruments up above the bars-many here dont,and I like the seat going from front to back in one line like it does.I destepped mine.I think the stock pipes blend well,and are symmetrical.I would say a stock gs only needs the back fender lower,the turn signals shorter,the taillight smaller and maybe the black inbstrument housing painted to match the bike colors.
