    My 1980 550 cafe project.

Well I finally got some pictures of my project. It's a 1980 550. I have the clubman handlebar set in place so far. As you can see from the pict that I cut the back part of the seat. I am going to make a removable cover so it looks like a solo seat and also so my wife can go along with me for rides until I finish her bike. The first pict is an idea that I have with the bags and the front fairing. I don't know about the front fairing though. Now I am figuring on which style of signals to go with and where to locate them. Any suggestions and or ideas, I am kind of stuck.

Signals are a dilemma that I am wrestling with as well. I like some of the harley style bullets, but not enough to get a set yet. One thing is for sure, the stock signals are ass-ugly, and you can't keep those.

Good idea on the seat, I am curious to see how that turns out. My girlfriend expressed some disappointment when I cut my frame and went with the solo seat. However, if she is dating me, it is best that she get used to disappointment.

As for the fairing, I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself. Get the bike more finished and the question will almost answer itself.

No way am I keeping the stock ones. I did buy a set of bullet signals with dual filliment but I think they are more suited on a bobber style bike. The mini bullets may look a bit better. J&P sells a set of Micro lights that I was thinking of. I saw a set of these on a Honda at the motorcycle show at they looked pretty good.

Looks like a great start - cant wait to see how it turns out. I have a few pictures of my 79 550 with the "L" tank still installed. I also have some pics of the bullet style turn signals - just keep in mind that you will have to change out the stock flasher relay with a simple automotive one. also make sure that the prongs match up with the one you select.

        Later,

So I can't just connect the wires and be done? I do not plan on using led's. Prongs on the relay right?

Should I drill the hole on the under side of the handle bar for the controls like the origional bar or should I just bend over the tab?
