    Seat Logo Restored!

Do you have a stock seat with the Suzuki logo on the back? Is it faded? Hard to read it? Maybe gone completely? Does your seat logo look like this? (actually, this one's not too bad)

    Now Lookie! Lookie!

I had an upolsterer buddy redo the back of my seat with a new silk screen logo. I originally wanted gold, but the sample he showed me looked like ca-ca. So I chose white. He cut off the old back panel, stitched in a new piece of vinyl with the logo on it, then stretched it back into place. I got a good price on the labor but had to pay for the silk screen art work. Here's a unstitched piece of material.

Want one? I have a few extra panels, and I can get more. Send me a PM and I'll give you a good price. I'm not looking to make big bucks. But if I sell a few of 'em I can make back some of the cost of the artwork. You'll have to find your own upolstery shop, sorry.

Looks like I'll be taking this one back to my guy. It's kinda stretched back too far on the right side.

Why would it be different on an "L"?

        The letters are recessed.

          Yeah, that would be different.

Can someone post a pic of an "L" seat back?

The letters are in the same spot, and probably the same size. They are just embossed into the vinyl panel. If I were doing a full resto, I would probably take the seat into a place that cuts vinyl stickers, and have them measure the letters up. They should be about to duplicate the letters, and then you could place the stickers in the recess. BTW, I don't think the L models had white logos. At least, my 82 650 did not. Just the embossing.

Wow! Fancy! Do all L's have that fancy piping? Is the piping also supposed to be colored? What color?

                  fancy L's

the two L's I have owned have both had the same impression on the back of the original seat. No color, just the impression pressed in the vinyl. On the first GS750L I owned I had the seat recovered 3X, and after the first seat cover, I could find no way to get the impression in the replacement cover. Back then I suppose I coulda' bought the replacement seat cover from Suzuki, but these days it just ain't an option.:-D

Mine also has fancy scrollwork embossing on both sides of the seat, however, it was coming apart at the stitches so I bought a real nice form fitted Saddlemen seat cover to put over it. Maybe someday I'll have it recovered, who knows if I could get the embossing duplicated or not though............
