    Tank Wrap

I was looking for a brown leather tank wrap for my 80' GS850. Does anyone know of something that would fit.

It's a leather cover that goes over the tank. If the tank is sound yet ugly it can be an easy alternative to repainting.

The new owner of my old 82 650GL put one on the bike after he bought it. Looks ok, matches the leather seat cover and hand grips (with tassles!) he put on, and kind of goes with the rattle can camo fender paint job he did. He also swapped out the handle bars for drag bars and put knobbies on it! it's quite a site now!

So let me see you wanna take a piece of leather and wrap it around your fuel tank to hold dirt and moisture against it right??

Kind of like covering your bike with a tarp and then wondering why it's all wet!

I never thought it was a good idea, just saw one once - on my old bike.

Tank cozy? That would be in the toaster aisle. Just kidding.

If you just wanted to protect the paint where your crotch and legs come in contact with the tank I would have suggested the 3M paint protector film or the custom version called Tank Slapper http://www.thetankslapper.biz/

After 100K miles on my 1100 I've worn some of the clear coat off where my thighs rub against the tank. No they're not thunder thighs.

I use the Tank slapper on my FZ1 and its almost invisible when installed and cost less than $20. It doesn't use adhesives just surface tension. I think its a much better solution than some of the stick on tank protectors. Maybe you could get it in a solid color instead of clear to hide blemishes.
