I went through the harness and checked all of the insulation and connectors. I replaced anything that looked questionable. For the most part the I used the original harness though. I made a few mods along the way. I rewired the turn signals to eliminate the self canceling signals. I also wired in the new fuse box. I got it from Summit racing. I think I posted the part number for someone else. I never really liked Buss fuses and the original fuse holder was pretty sketchy anyway. Also, this gave me the chance to add accessories if I want to. I like to use heated gloves in the winter. I also added the Honda R/R and I replaced the Starter Solenoid with a fused solenoid from a Huyabusa. I would have liked to have just made a completely new harness, but the one I had wasn't too bad once I dug in to it a little bit. I may rewire it in the future just to further simplify the system, but for now I'll just go with what I have.

That's a great site. Thanks for the link. I think Satin might be the way to go.

        The Saga Continues

Hmmm. I wonder what's in here.

Ahhh, nothing. Well, that explains why this thing is so loud.

I had some of this laying around, so I stuffed it in there.

Not only is the bike quieter, it should be warmer in the Winter.

The bike is much quieter now. The difference is truly night and day. I opened the muffler expecting to see some remnant of packing. I was really surprised to see none. I'm sure this stuff won't last, but it'll do until I get the real deal.

The bike is running pretty good. I still have a little surge right around late 1/4 throttle. I have the jet needle raised as high as it will go. I'm not really ready to start fiddling with settings yet. I don't seem to have a short enough screwdriver to adjust my fuel screws. So, that will need to be done first. Also, my head gasket is weeping pretty good. I'm going to try re-torquing the head and hopefully that will do it. Otherwise, I may need to buy a new gasket. I used the one that came in one of those gasket kits from e-bay. I'm having my doubts about that choice.

The bike running pretty good. It's civilized in traffic. The surge only really shows up on your way to highway speed or revving high with no load. Also, the mirror that I have on it stinks. I have to get some bar-end mirrors. I'm also not too happy with the drag bars. I have the euro-style bars on my other bike and that bit of pull back makes a big difference in the wrists. I didn't think these would be that different, but they are.

I should be able to get the head re-tightened and the fuel adjusted this weekend. Maybe sooner if life cooperates with my plans. After that, the plug chopping starts. Hopefully I can beat old man Winter and get a good long ride in this year.

Well, I re-tightened the head bolts. They were surprisingly loose. I was amazed. The seepage was reduced, but did not go away. So, I guess the next step is another head gasket and lots of copper spray.
