    Better way to clean!

Thought I'd share a quick new way to clean grungy hard to get at nooks and crannys.

Last August I bought my first bike, a 1980 GS750L. It sat outside for about two years. I've been cleaning and repairing as I ride (7,000 miles and counting!)

Today I thought I'd get into the carb surfaces as I've been cleaning and polishing a little each week. I was having a hard time getting anything to work in all those hard to reach surfaces. Then I had a brainstorm.

My wife is a dental assistant, so I have a few extra toothbrushes and little toothpaste tubes laying around. I mixed a few ounces of Goof-Off and an equal amount of toothpaste together. It took a little doing, I guess because the water base and solvent base didn't want to mix, but it blended after I worked at it a minute with the brush in a stainless cup I have.
This stuff worked great! I swirled it over the entire surface and worked it in with the toothbrush and let it set a minute. Then I rinsed it off with water. Two applications and it looks better than any other time since I've had it.

    Hope this helps somebody else.

I'd rather be riding than cleaning... but I do like my machine looking nice too!
