    Windshield

Just wondering if I could get steered in the direction of a good, quick connect windshield for my 81 GS650G? Plan on putting alot of highway miles on this summer and know a windshield is a must for me.

Slipstreamer probably has the widest variety of windshields.

Slipstreamer is a leading windscreen installation for powersports and police & military face shield supplier. Contact us for quick quotes.

Try Dennis Kirk for some other makes, or to order a Slipstreamer. The biggest decision you'll make is how much protection you want/need. I've cut down about a third of the different windshields I've had over the years. It isn't that difficult to do, but you have to be careful; Hundred dollar mistakes an happen in the blink of an eye if you're not.

I've got a National Cycle Plexifairing lll on mine. I got it for protection from the cold mornings here up North. Works great and it can be removed in a jiffy. They sell several different styles. Seem very well made and durable.

National Cycle, Inc. is the worldwide leader in motorcycle windshields and accessories manufacturing since 1937 and is a key OEM supplier to the world's motorcycle manufacturers. We Are The Windshield Experts™.

Shop the net for the best pricing on them. It varies

One thing to keep in mind though. They are molded for a STOCK handlebar setup! If you've changed handlebars to non-stock style, then the fairing type windshields might not fit right.

I've installed about a half-dozen of the National screens, they bolted right up and easy to remove (mounting brackets stay on the bike, but they're chrome and not blatently noticeable). Never had any complaints on them either. They have great tech help about fitment, too.

                National cycle

I just purchased a 1981 GS850G last night and it came with a National Cycle Plexifairing 3. I had to take it off to haul the bike home in my truck and I put it back on tonight. It probably took 3-5 minutes each time. When I test drove the bike I thought it provided real good protection from bugs but better than fairings I've had before since it's all clear. I think I'm going to like it.

I put a Slipstreamer "Sport Shield" S-08 on my GS1000. Really looks nice on the bike, but I think it's a bit too tall, as I'm getting some really irritating buffeting at 65 MPH +.. Keeps the wind, bugs, and rain off me above the knees, though.

Does shortening the windshield help prevent buffeting at helmet level? As it is, I could stand on the pegs and still not get wind in the face.

I have the Slipstream Spitfire shield. It's not too big, but I like it.

I guess the Slipstreamer Sport Shield IS too tall.... I was riding today and tried rising a few inches off the seat, and the buffeting disappears. Kinda rattles my teeth the way it is, so I'll have to find somebody with some good routing skills to cut it down a bit. What a pain in the ass.....](*,)

Maybe flipping the headlight ears over would be an easier fix.....
