Lowering the 750L, and where to get parts?

Did some searching around, found some good info on lowering my 80 750L.

I still have a few questions.

Looked on eBay for some lowering blocks to no avail. Couldnt find them anywhere. Is there a place that sells them or is there another alternative for a rear disc brake-d 750? I've read that blocks may not be a good idea on this bike anyway.

In regards to the front forks, I can drop them down in the triple clamps how far exactly? Someone also made mention of changing the fork oil, to what and how to?

Just want this thing like 2-3" lower if possible. Thanks doods for your help.

The forks you can drop as low as your handle bars will allow. Just remember that you change the bike's geometry when you do it so it will handle different.

Front lower than back equals sharp and twitchy handling.

Back lower than front equals slower and less responsive handling.

I haven't heard anything about blocks being a bad idea. I have lowering shocks on my bike tho. You can buy shorter length shocks to allow for a shorter rear in either clevis to eye style or eye to eye depending on how they mount on your bike. Hope this helps.

O yeah, the shorter shocks I got were on cycle re-cycle. New they were less than a hundred bux.

Well, in addition, I'd like something markedly stiffer (on both ends) than whats on there now. About 2-3" lower but stiffer as well so it doesnt bottom out.

Any ideas?

Check out Tracy Borchet's Bike (Nice rice). He has a 750T, with lowering blocks. He should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Great buy and stiffer than stock. I have them and love them for the money. Do the Progressive brand springs out front and you won't be sorry. I also went to the Hardley shop and bought some heavy duty oil to go on top of my Prog..Springs. :-D

Thats exactly what I want- stiffer suspension.

Going from an 01 R6 to this is a bit... soft.

Haha, last year I got rid of my 03 F4i and thought that was a little soft so I know exactly where you're coming from. The new springs definitely make a worthy difference.

Be carefull of front fender clearance with the suspension compressed (when you slide the fork tubes up into the tree's).

Nice bike, but it's drum braked in the back. I've got discs all the way around.

Looks like it's shocks only for me.

Anyone have any idea how much the 11" shocks will drop this thing? And, I dont want the gaywad front-end-higher-than-the-back look, so is it possible to go TOO low in the back?
