        Update....

Finially got all of the parts in house! This weekend I plan to flow the carbs, adjust the air screws, mount both fenders and the tank again.... try to take it out for a test ride if time and weather permit.....

So much to do..... Helps to keep the mind off life's little pressures. Ah, the Zen of the motorcycle. Nothing quite like it.

I just got a GS650G as well, only mine was free, and is leaking a significant amount of oil. (Nothing in life is ever really "free"). Looking forward to the results of your rebuild!

The 1982 GS650GZ came stock with red or black plastic fenders. The rear section of the rear fender is detachable to make removal of the rear wheel easier.

With the standard air box, and the entire fuel/carburetion system properly adjusted and synchronized, the carburetion on this bike is perfect. No flat spots or surges under any load at any speed. It will pull smoothly from 20 MPH in fifth gear. Twisting the throttle should be like turning a rheostat controlling an electric motor. I strongly recommend that you try to make it stock. You can spend a lot of money and time on exhaust and pods and jets and carbs, and end up with a bike that won't perform as well as a stock one.
