by hand...lol.. I used a 380 grit i think to knock down the high spots, and then go from 400 to 1000 to get it nice and smooth. Been using some high build primer to fill in imperfections. Wont get em all but a few layers of primer and many layers of rattlecan ceramic black should take care of it. Nice hard finish too. That bondo gold sands a hell of alot easier than the regular stuff too. The compounds are tough..took a bit of experimenting to get the best way to coat em. And then spray primer to see what was bad...lots of going back and forth but i think its going to end up worth it.

Thanks man..its been a bit of hell cos i want to get this stuff on the damn bike but the weather has NOT been cooperative. Tomorrow im off however and its supposed to be sunny and kinda warm so im stoked. Gotta fix the cage first, but then its on to the bike. WOOOHOO! I just need to get the damn carbs synched, get my filter and baffle which is to be here tomorrow and im ready to go. BTW you will be getting your package tomorrow too if im correct...i got that damn tracking number ive been meaning to give you around here somewheres...Comment

I'm inpatient so I would knock down the Bondo with 180 grit hehe. Made for some pretty deep scratches but you can even notice them with all the paint...... Sounds like the bike is coming along nicely. Mine has come to a stand still. The weather's been miserable but it should clear up by tomorrow so I'm gonna start to rock the sh!t out of the bike to finish. Everything is on its way and nothing is holding me up. Fvck I just remembered I needed to sand down a spacer that goes between the frame and engine. Was gonna do that today but I forgotComment

Ahh i got a bunch of wiring to do too. But I think Nelkyfan is going to give me a hand with that. Got a new killswitch/starter button to wire and a signal switch and gauges to wire in. BUT these things can wait, i can run her without that stuff, i just want to hear her running with the floats and jets set right. I hope i dont have to do a bunch of tweaking to the carb screws or the needle. Cross your fingers for the silver bullet...lmaoComment

Hell yeah your package came in today. I was as giddy as a school girl waiting for the UPS dude to bring it to my door. The bars a beautiful and the crash bars are in tons better condition then you were leading on. BUT I don't think they're gonna work. They just don't fit unless I'm doing something wrong. But yeah no holes line up at all. I dunno I'm gonna try a few more fitments and see where it gets me. If there's no hope I guess I'll leave em in the shed til the day I get a 750 or 850Comment

For sure pics will be up. But the stupid batteries are dead. I'll pick some up tomorrow. BTW the bars are in GREAT shape they really do look very nice..... Yeah bikebandit's shipping time is ridiculous but meh I guess what can you expect for 6 bucks. And to top it off they're not even sending the nut for the sprocket either cuz its on order from Suzuki or something..... Well I've finally done it. I hacked into the seat. I've been putting it off since forever because... well becuase I didn't want to screw up. But today I was feeling brave so I took off the fabric cover and started chopping into it. And then I started cutting up the seat pan.
Basically I'm gonna kinda mod it to look like this
Only its not gonna be as pretty or curvy, but its gonna have the same basic shape and probably the same type of fabric....
Its that or I'll cover it in something like this

Going for the gunfighter seat huh? That ought to look pretty sharp! Glad the bars worked out! they are in good shape, look pretty new, but not my style..maybe in ten more years when my back is telling me clubmans and clipons are a no no ill get myself a set! lolComment

Pretty much its too cover up all the nasty-ness of the rear crossmember and and the plastic inner rear fender. The small rear portion will do that nicely and eventually if I want to carry a passenger I can. Hopefully it comes out looking good I'll post up progress pics...... Yeah and my back is already telling me no clubman's or clip ons.... Heavy lifting (I.E. engines, cinder blocks. roofing shingles etc etc) will do that too youComment
