Negative blue ostrich. The original bolts had small heads. They didn't even come close to touching the intake boots. If anything the new bolts I bought are larger than the originals and they still don't touch. Well except for one

ok now im totally confused...Each of my boots has two bolts...the bolts actually go thru the boot and bolt into the manifold itself. the boot is sealed to the head by our friendly Intake orings we've come to know and love (*cough*hate*cough*) How are yours different?

Sorry bout the wait. But now to clarify. That's basically what I'm dealing with. The manifold is very short. We're talking about shorter than half an inch. And the rubber boot doesn't do anything but sit on it.

Hrmm that has to be some sort of adapter they used to get them to accept the BS32s after they went away from the mechanicals. What holds THAT boot on?

Ok see i think something is awry here. First the manifold ISNT the metal thing that the rubber attaches to. That SHOULD be permenantly attached to the rubber. The manifold is what THAT all attaches to. On mine, the metal ears and plate are molded into the rubber. Then that attaches with the bolts to the head/manifold. the intake rings go on the back of the metal flange into a groove machined into it. The carbs push into the rubber boots. voila! Yours...i dunno wtf is going on there. WTF hold the rubber to the flange??

NOTHING lol. Nothing holds it on. Basically you slip them on, and then they kinda just stay there. What really holds them on is that the airbox and carbs are pushed up against them. Its a very tight fit to get everything on. Which is why i originally wanted to go with pods. But yeah the airbox and carbs pushing against them is what keeps them from falling off.
And yeah I know that your's are molded together. That the realization i came to earlier about why no one else complains

Wow that has me thrown for a loop seriously. What an oddball.. I figured all of the 8 valvers had the same boot set up. Now i wonder if thats exactly how the 16 valver is set up, cos that's kinda what those boots look like. Just rubber sleaves.

Honestly the thing that holds it on there so tight is the force of the airbox pushing against it. its a VERY tight fit
