Wow...im now completely curious to the point that i am probably going to end up at first light in that shed pulling one of those boots off...lol I gotta see whats up. Did you by chance read that thread on the 650 on a 550 block thread?? i think in there they mentioned something about the 550 boots being goofy too..

Well...i guess that would work...as long as the fuel is going in to the head without any excess air. I just dont see how that rubber sleave doesnt suck air around that metal flange. And WTF if you wanna put pods on it? You're screwed! The carbs wont fit tight without the airbox? Im needless to say confuzzled. Ive seen some strange set ups...but generally they are all about the same. Even those stinkin hondas i had were more or less the same set up.

Yeah I read through that 650 thread and saw that. And its true it does puzzle most. They can't understand HOW that came to be. And its a head scratcher. Because the boots are stamped Suzuki. So they came like that from the factory
As for putting pods on thats a bit confusing also. But that's why Tone said to support the carbs with something. Dude that guy knows his stuff

Yeah he does...So far i havent run into anything that he hasnt already answered yet..but i have the feeling im going to soon with this bore project. I was poking around and i think ill prolly end up sinking another 600 bucks into it and get a set of Mikuni RS34 flatsides for it. It will be one bad ass cafe motor when im done i think. Might be too much for this bike, in which case, ill be looking for a different roller to build up. lol

Dude check out ebay for flatsides. I found a 34mm pair the other day that went for 150 bucks. And they looked friggen badass!
I think I may just contact Nessism and ask him about those boots. I think I'm gonna try to get a set where they're molded together. Because its a serious b!tch to get them on when the only thing that keeps them on is the airbox pushin everything up agaisnt them. I almost had a heart attack trying to keep them in place while trying to get the carbs on. Its pretty tough seeing as there are four to worry about

Ok broseph...im off to bed..getting up with the chickens tomorrow, as its supposed to be sunny and get near 40..WOOHOO! Got a motor to pull and a bike to get to the manhole. And i gotta pick that new motor up too. I'll get some snaps of those boots off that 16v 750 and see if they match up. If so, you're welcome to them. Crap..i gotta get that motor downstairs too...*sigh* my back is gonna be broke tomorrow..lmao Night man!

I will keep an eye out! Didnt even think about that. Lemme know what he says about those boots. I have a feeling you can get the moulded ones, and you'll be better off. But i could be very wrong too...lol PEACE and GREASE!

Well i picked up the motor this afternoon.
The good: Its in WAY better shape looks wise (thats as far as ive got with it) than mine. Missing the stator badge, but no big deal there.
The Bad: Some IDIOT with the shipping company aparently tagged it with a forklift or something, as the camend cover is creased and cracked, and the screw bosses in the valve cover for it are broken. I dont think it came from the seller that way, as the breaks look fresh, and the cam end was in the bottom of the plastic wrap. Lil miffed about that. Lucky i have extra cam end covers, and i;ll have to find another valve cover...damnit.

I was thinking about going to the flee market sometime but I can do that any day. The only problem with Saturday is that I got class till noon. I would love to do some more wrenching.
I have a guy at work that is going to give me an r/r so I can get my bike running sooner. I'm still going to build that r/r I got plans for but I need to find some time and this is a quick fix.
