    White walls?

I have a '77 GS550 that I've slowly but surely turned into a grunge cafe racer.

I've already got the taxi stripe down the center, and some wicked tank decals, I relocated the battery after fabricating a custom intake, and by gosh it's almost done. It need just one final touch. While walls.

For one, I don't even know what my stock tire size is for my bike, as the current rubber was thrown on by the last owner.

I'm wondering if anyone A) knows what my stock tire size should be. B) What size I should go with for the best look and handling. and finally C) Where could I find a good set of whitewalls that run tubes?(a decent price would also be great)

Help me out here guys, I'm at the home stretch and this is my final touch. Thanks in advance.

I had never thought of that on a GS before but I think it would look awesome. Here is a link with some whitewalls but they only seem to have them in 16" http://www.jpcycles.com/vintage_vintageWheels

dunno what size your wheels are, but for my 750L model , I've got a Metzeler wide whitewall rear on , and an avon whitewall front is in the pipeline.

They look ridiculously good on the bike, have good tread patterns and a real nice profile.
Cast wheels on mine tho, so I dunno if this is much help, but you can def get Metzeler and Avon whitewalls to fit. I spent ages searching around to find these.

Yeah I've been looking and either I'm not finding any or if I do find them, they're way too expensive for my budget. The one thing I keep coming across is this whitewall paint.
There are countless site out there that recommend it and provided it came out ok, I would pay +-100 bucks for regular black tires, then 18.00 for the paint. That would still be about a hundred bucks cheaper than getting actual whitewalls. I'm still not sure. There is rangerpaint.com and then there is some guy in Iceland who makes it himself. Decisions, decisions.

From what I have seen the 550 either has 16 rear and 18 front or 18 rear and 19 front. Either way Maxxis Classic tires come in wide whitewalls that would fit. You may have to go to a wider tire in the front but I think that would look cool. Here is a link to one site that sells them:

You can also go to the Maxxis site and see all the sizes they have and better pictures.

            Try Coker tires

Check these guys out. They make all that repro stuff. You can get some pretty bizarre stuff there. Alhtough, I wouldn't think that it's speed rated. Most of the whitewalls I saw were bias ply.

              Or you could try this.....

It's commonly known that you can use a grinder to make your own Wide White Wall tires. I've been doing it for years. Heck, there's even a How To in the...
