There's a thread going about this somewheres, but there are alot of different suggestions. Personally, im about to cover a cafe seat, and im going to try carpet underpadding foam. Its durrable and from what most say just as comfortable as standard upholstry foam.

Yeah I just found it, (still new to this forum thing). I think I'm gonna try the carpet underlay idea also, so you're doing a cafe also? Great idea! I've been looking for a sportbike to turn into a street fighter, so the cafe style is perfect for the GS550 we have.

Yup. Its been in the works for about 6 mos now. Right now i have my 77 750B torn apart in the basement. Just picked up a newer motor for it. Wasnt anything wrong with my old motor, just looked like hell. This one is nicer. Stripped it down to the frame, painted it, waiting on my seat pan, new SS brake lines all around. Will be picking up a new EBC rear rotor, a fork brace at some point, its got a V&H 4into1 and pod filters for it, spent a while learning about these carbs and how to jet for them. Painted my frame, blacked out spokes, clubman bars, messing around a bit with what gear ratio to run on the sprocket set at the moment. Want something with some guts, but some top end too. Its a fun but at times frustrating project, cause i just want to get it done and ride, but i want to do it right.
