    Removing Tank Decals?

    Hi Guys
I want to repaint the tank on my 82 GS 1100 GL. Anyone know a fairly easy way to remove those big side decals? Danged things are as tough as heck. I've done this before and even aluminum oxide blasting was a tough job. Got to be an easier way. Your thoughts, wise ones?
    Thanks in advance!

I used something like Goop or Citrus something-or-other!, a razor blade, and a hair dryer to remove my stripes.

they make special tool to remove pinstriping its a wheel looks kind of like a polishing wheel. if you painting it i'd just hit it with a sander for a bit if your gunna strip your tank

Decals that are on the surface, I remove with a heat gun.
Decals that are cleared in, I use a DA (3 inch not 6 inch).

                  Affordable DA?

Thanks. Can anyone suggest where I can get a decent affordable DA? I checked them out on the web and some are running 2-3 hundred beans.

Try Harbor Freight. It's acceptable quality stuff especially if you use the tools infrequently. They probably have one for less than $40.

All right, I will ask the question - what is "DA".

                      Thanks,

Dual Action sander :-D similar to an orbital sander but it oscilates as well as turns

                            The real "DA"

Good thing you guys cleared that up. I was trying to remove the decals with a Duck's Ass - left tail feathers all over the place.

                              That's where Uncle Quacker went...
