    T time

    [/IMG]

    [/IMG]

Against my MO I resisted going stock. As you may recall this bike was given to me for free, running with several mechanical failings and a lot of appearance concern that we all can relate to. With a couple of new tires this thing is ready to take me to work or along the Mississippi. I will shoot some photos when I really clean it up and the sun is out sometime. I just couldn't wait to share for now.

The photo below kinda gives an idea of where I started from.

                  Thanks ALL

Thanks for the comments guys - it makes the effort worth it. Simple fun aren't they. There is a ton of inspiration on this site. I probably wouldn't have gone custom otherwise. (I blame Tracy.)

There was a little to do mechanically - such as finding the source of a charging issue. The fork seals leaked and other quirks. I got NOS gear indicator plastic, mirrors, side covers, recovered the seat, and sent it to the body shop. The '83 T had a black engine - I just washed it.

                  Thanks again.

                    Bike looks great!

Not trying to sound critical, just encouraging...Evapo-rust works great for getting rust off of the cast iron suzuki foot pegs. The foot pegs on my old 550T had some rust and I just dunked them in the sauce for a day and they came out looking like brand new. You need to protect the metal after removing the rust (wax at minimum) but they really looked nice.

                    Good luck.

Great job and nice choice of colors! Very tasteful. Have you considered a simple pinstripe around the white areas? If it were mine, I'd pick up some adhesive backed pinstriping tape of different widths and colors to try.
I'm in the middle of painting my GK and hope to perfect pinstriping. I am so looking forward to being able to post pics of the finished project for opinions.

Great constructive comments that what this is all about.

First of all the T is a little Triumph-like esp. in black - its a good thing.

I didn't notice the peg rust until the photo was shot - after the suggestion I went to the garage and lucked out that it rubbed right off - certianly not the exclusive location.

Regarding the pin strip - after the fact I should have used a more distinctive strip than the 1/16" black I used. Someone here had a bike that they used a narrow strip of the dominate color just inside of the secondary color to outline it. Or even a silver would have worked out.

Now it goes back to being a commuter. Every notice how much better a bike runs with new paint??
