The Skunk has a new look!

Got the aluminum swingarm and my new chrome Jardine 4-1 installed! \\/

The Jardine is a bit longer than the V&H, but still shorter than the stock pipes. It tucks under the engine more, too. I haven't started it yet...I need to get all the fingerprints and oil off the pipe first. You can click on my skunk pic in my signature and get a comparison to the V&H pipe. Which pipe do you like better? Some say the Jardine outperforms the V&H. I'll let you know. I bought the pipe over a year ago 'cause I had never seen a chrome Jardine for the 1000 (and it was on clearance).

    You like?

            Excellent! I like the megaphone.

Any trouble getting the pipes on?

No, they went on pretty easily. But I'm worried about something... I haven't put the centerstand down because it doesn't look like it WILL go down. I need to take a close look and see. The package of hardware that came with it has what they call a stand stop bracket, but no instructions and I haven't figured it out yet.

That sucks if the center stand won't go down. It looks really nice. I'm torn because I prefer the shorter look of the V&H but I like how the Jardine would get the exhaust further away from you. Which has better clearance in corners?

It also looks like there is no chance of changing the oil filter with the pipes on. I take my V&H off anyways because I lack the finesse but I'm sure some don't.

It looks to me like the Jardine has better clearance. It goes more under the center of the engine.

                      DEad sexy!

It's impossible to change the oil with my Yosh pipe, and I had to lose the center stand. I miss it bad.

If mine is going to work, it's going to be close! Tom, I think your black Jardine has the same head pipe. Looks like your center stand is still on. How much clearance do you have? Do you know how to use this "stand bracket" that came in the hardware? I suppose I could dig out my black one and see if they are the same.

I don't know, I haven't seen one, but could this stand bracket move the stand back a touch?

I have a Yosh on my 82 GS1100ez. I'm not sure if it requires the removal of the center stand or not, but either way I took that heavy boat anchor off. I didn't through the center stand away or sell it cause when ever I want to get the rear tire off the ground (at home) I just slap it back on with just one of the original bolts the one on the left side (hand tight) don't attach the return spring either. It take less than one minute to accomplish. I can do it blind now with out needing to look under the bike.

Now if something happens on the road I have to get creative. It has happened once or twice over 100K miles. I just rock the bike on the side stand and put whatever I can find on the side of the road, like a couple of rocks or a log or whatever and place that under the swing arm on the right side of the bike.

With my Yosh header I can change the oil. Its not easy to get all those little nuts off the filter cover though. I usually take a piece of tin foil and wrap it around the header to keep the old oil off.

I bought a Jardine last year when star cycle had the closeout sale. Haven't tried it yet.

Looks nice on your bike though
