Seat mod for an 81 450T

Ive got this 81 450T. Its my first bike, and I really like it. My only problem is that I have no place to put tools, or insurance card. The seat isn't easy to remove on this bike. Bolts go through the rear fender, hold the sissy bar in place, the turn signal and the seat.

I was thinking of trying to seperate the seat from those bolts and making it hinge up on the front.

I was curious if someone had already done this mod. If so, what did you do?

    thanks

I am in the same boat, I just got a packing slip and put under the seat. Hopefully you will never need to get the insurance card or regstration out. If you do then shame on you. I have seen some cafe racer bikes here with hinges.

How about a small tool roll/tool bag on the tree?

is there not a place on the right side of the bike under the cover for your OEM tool bag??
