1981 gs 550e, new style is born

i got this two pics of my bike made by mobile phone, but how the progress will advance new and better pics will be sticks.
yet is replaced original front and rear wheels with 17" wheels from 2003 ktm sm 525, front fork holder made from aluminium and the tank is airbrushed.
i plan to put flat governor (handlebar) and different (shorter) seat. that is all for now, hope you like it!

I love the front end and the seat.....can you drop the back end down a little and close the gap up above the tire....that would do it for me.

the seat is hand job and it is placed to fit in modified back end (originaly back end is choped and new is weld up). new back end can not be set down because handler of back amortisseur is placed to high.
front fork is original but front fork holder is replaced and it is put a new one made from aluminium and polished and it is made especially for my bike. handlebar is made by inox, lights and other things are from louis in graz (austria).

I love it, except I would lower the handle bars maybe 6cm or 3 in and I would put the turn signals on the forks or somewhere lower not on the handle bar ends.

My thoughts: ditto on moving the signals from the bars.

Maybe a dual headlamp setup to fill up some of the space up there.

If you lower that any in the back, you can forget about having a passenger or loading it up if you want to go long distance or even go get groceries. I really like the spoke wheels.. have been considering that for my 80 GS550 but not sure how much trouble I'd have to go through with brakes. What was your approach to changing that out?

rear wheel fits perfectly in the back and i didnt have any trouble with that at all (tyre 160). front wheel fits perfectly to but it was needed to make one distance (aluminium tab) for front brakes.

The way I understand it he has taken the 550 forks & re-spaced them with custom triple trees to fit the front wheel.
He's also used a custom bracket to mount the caliper.

Not for the faint hearted, certainly not a simple "bolt on" job. More credit to this guy for making it work though.

I agree with lower bars & different indicators to finish it off....
