    1982 Gs550l

Hey guys, just purchased this one (first bike) for 1000. Runs pretty good, starts nice, has about 33k miles. below is a crappy photoshop of the flat black paint i want to use. i also photoshopped a 1981 gs650? tail on it, because i HATE the look of my seat. My question is which seats are "compatible" with mine? which will use the same hooks and lock? I really appreciate it!

Tanks, seats, and tail pieces do not interchange between models. You are going to have to fab new mounts which is pretty difficult unless you can weld.

A simpler solution is to have a custom seat built using your stock seatpan. Strip off the cover and build up the foam/carve it down until you get the shape you want. A good upholstery shop can make you a cover afterward. This is a fairly popular mod for the L crowd that don't like the step.

I assume then that some people don't like that seat as well.

          1) Do you know of any pics/threads where I can see one thats been modded?
          2) are their any good places for L parts, in case I want to ride my L while I create the seat? I checked out some that the search function turned up, but nothin
3)what kind of finish is that on the harley nightster? I like that flat black, but its like satin or something?

thanks a lot guys. I have been able to use the search function for other things which is cool.
