Saddle bags

I have an '85 GS550L and I'd like to find some nice saddle bags as a future addition. I would like to keep the bike as original as possible, and I was wondering if there were factory bags as an option, or if everything was aftermarket? I am not ready to pick up a set yet, just wondering for future reference.

I was looking through the 1979 gallery and I noticed nice saddle bags on a bike owned by Robert Moore. it is a GS 425.

You could always go with soft bags to help maintain the factory look. Here's a thread of a very nice 850G with some. I intend to get some for my E, soon.

I have a great set of Vetter bags I purchased to install on my 1979 GS1000. The mounting brackets, however, came from an old Goldwing. Does anybody know where I might find mounting brackets that fit our bikes? I am ready to start modifying if need be.
