    Velomobile waxing?

Hey, kind of an odd one.....

My brother in law imported a Velomobile http://www.leiba.de/index.php?option...tpage&Itemid=1from Germany and was wanting to know if he could wax it. It has a Gel-coat and is made with fiber-reinforced-plastic.

Any reason he should NOT wax it? If not, are any wax products for gel-coats better than others?

i can't think of any reason why he couldn't wax it.. the best part about wax is it's pretty damn inert.

If it is gel coat over fibreglass, there is a special product for it. I used it for the truck cap years ago. You can use a non abrasive pure wax but be careful not to scratch the gel. That spray stuff I used before was supposed to keep the gel clearcoat from getting uv damage.

FWIW, I'm in the boat biz. We also do gelcoat restoration. We've had great results with Nu-Finish as a preliminary coat followed by Gold Class wax after allowing the Nu-Finish a few days to really cure.
For intermediate use (ie. a quick and protective shine) we use a spray called Bass Boat Saver. GREAT product that removes all kinds of crud.
        Good luck and safe riding,

Common sense has become so uncommon that I consider it a super power.
