    I've done some of my own too. I scored an electric dual oven range for $40. Have a 100 amp service in the garage wired it up and away I went. I don't think I took any pictures, just put the stuff right on the bike. I did the calipers, front master cylinder, oil filter cover and float bowls. All in all I was happy with the results. I was going to do the swing arm, but getting it in the oven would have been a huge PITA. I would like to get a oven large enough to do bike and go-cart frames. What I've done so far I'm calling practice and it gets a little easier each time. I'll be sure to get pictures from the next batch.

        You might want to check out your local restaurant supply house. I'll bet there's a bunch of used pizza ovens and the like available now,

          Thanks for more pics, Breeze. Here's my typcial method for an aluminum part - please let me know if I'm any where close to how you do it:

          -Strip paint/clearcoat with aircraft stripper
          -Degrease & clean with hot water and dish soap
          -Hang part and wipe down with Simple Green and a paper towel (rubber gloves are worn from this point forward to keep grease from fingers off part)
          -Use a small propane torch to burn off surface of part for fuzzies
          -Offgas part at 25 degrees (or so) hotter temp than cure temp, for about 15 minutes usually
          -Coat part while still hot so that powder melts as it sticks to the part. This has gotten me the best results so far.

          What do you think? Anything I can do different to get rid of the tiny little bubbles and imperfections that still seem to pop up?

            Give me a little time for more practice, Big T. I don't want to mess up on your parts. Once I get the frankenstein bike done, I should have more bugs worked out. I'm getting better, though.

            The chrome ended up being more like a semi-polished aluminum finish. Would still look good on a frame. I was also thinking it would work well for the cafe guys that want to do their fuel tank.

              I think this would be just right for a frame, Bruce.

              I'm thinking of doing my valve cover, clutch and chain cover in a flat black that's called Solar Flat. Do you think that would jive well with my stock semi-gloss cases and a set of stainless hex-head hardware?

                What rear wheel did you mount in that stock swinger?

                  That's a late 80s/90s katana 600 & 750 wheel. I think that's either a 140 or 150 section tire.

                    I've been powder coating for about 18 months now. (just my own stuff and some things for friends). I scored a 48x48x96 sample drying oven at a auction of a gold mine that was closing down for $25. 240v single phase. Will go 600 degrees and has all digital controls and readouts. It's perfect for coating. I started out with a H/F system but moved up to a bigger national PC system. what I've read sounds like you pretty much have it all under control. I get the piples too from time to time, and can pretty much trace them back to some sort of contamination.
                    Good looking stuff.

                      Look under free stuff on Craigs, there are a few free ovens here listed today.
                      Gonna do this as soon as I sell a couple bikes to free up some space.

                          Sure, I'll do them. Are they aluminum or steel? If you can give me a specific date of when you will have them ready, I can schedule them in and its less likely to take me a millenium to get them finished.

                          Do you want a flat pink or do you want a chrome pink? I'll look around on Columbia Coating's website to see what there is.

                          I'm thinking I'll do the wheels on the frankenstein bike with this chrome powder.

                            Got any pictures, Madjack? And that oven sounds like a score. I built mine out of an old refrigerator, steel studs, and rockwool insulation, using a PID digital control and a 240v three-pole contactor running two standard oven elements. Cost me a couple hundred bucks and several weekends to get it done. If you can get it up to 600 degrees, I think you can do ceramic coatings as well.

                            Is your typical process similar to mine? Are you coating your parts while still hot or do you let them cool first?
