    No fenders on a daily?

I was just curious about running without fenders on a daily rider. Anyone do it? Any warnings or tales of caution? -nick

In some jurisdictions it is agin the law and some hefty fines may be levied (I think its around $500 here in Ont.). Worse than that though is the thought of shooting up some road debris.

When I was building the tracker, I ran fenderless for a week or two and got a couple of pieces of gravel at the ankle and knee. Smarts I tell ya!

Lots of fellas run bobers and chops without them and seem to do o.k. so it might not be a big issue. I'd check first with Johnny law to be safe... oh and wear a jock just in case one ricochets off the jewels.

    Ride safe.

i ran my gs450 liek this for about 3 weeks when my front fender got smacked by a cardoor and i was to lazy to fix it so i didnt rub the tire, it SUCKS specially if you get stuck in any ammount of rain. everything just comes right up in yer face. i was also told the front fender keeps down wind turbulance so it helps the air flow to the engine to cool it down if you have an air cooled bike.

i wouldnt run without front or rear fender, stones also fly up from the rear

I've removed the rear on a number of my bikes. Only bummer is the spray up your back when it's wet or worse gutter water. As soon as I get my bobber on the road I will be able to chime in on the front. I was hipped to some old biker tech as to fenderless in the rain though. I'm sure we've all seen it too. Tie a bandana to the forks. It cuts the spray and acts kinda like a fender if you will.

I rode without a front fender on my last daily rider (15xxx a year) sucks it the rain. I also rode my current daily without a front and rear fender until I got caught in a snowstorm about 30 minutes from home

I'm gonna bob mine a little before my next paint job, but the thought of stuck in the rain with NO fender isn't very enticing.

Damnit I like your bike Rich. The VFW sticker tickles the hell out of me. I think I might give the fenderless thing a go, see what it looks like and make up my own mind. If I try to ride through next winter I might just put them back on. I'm not sure if you know this, but it rains a little come winter time in the northwest . Summers are real dry though. -nick

You can get some very deep scratches in your headlight. What's easier to find, a clean fender or a scratch free light? I'd sacrifice the a million fenders for the headlight. Think of all the time cleaning you'll save with a fender.

So, what's the best source for fenders?

Cleaning? Whose cleaning? You've never seen my bike . Rust is tough as hell to clean, comes out looking... well, rusty. Clean isn't a big concern. -nick

Can we please, oh please, make this some sort of official GSR motto, credo, mantra, welcome statement...oh whatever, just something official.

Otherwords I am afraid I will have to add it to my sig (full credit given, of course)

My 450 is fenderless and I rode it all summer with no problems. Less is more, sometimes.
