    Repainting with Rattle Cans

I'm repainting my sidecovers and tank using the procedure in the garage section. So far it's looking pretty good. I have a questing regarding the rubbing compound. Are there any other non-petroleum rubbing compounds that are satisfactory, besides the 3M brand?

Is it the cost that concerns you?

    Napa is ungodly expensive!!

Try to find a local auto paint supply they can give you alternatives that are cheaper and petroleum free.

I have used rubbing compounds with petroleum and never had a problem.

Check also Mequire's brand products doing a search they are cheaper and just as good as 3M.

Cost was one thing, the other was finding it locally (didn't check NAPA though)

Check Wal-mart, they do carry 3M rubbing compound in smaller bottles for i think $10.00 compared to the $35.00 or so at body shops supply.
