Oh wow... I just realized what (I think) that SoCo bottle is... Is that a fuel gauge? If so, that's freaking awesome.

Yes it is in fact. You can probably see where my foolish self filled it up and forgot to tie off the clear tube so it stripped the paint. No biggie. Little tape and repaint and she's good as new.

I origionally had it located in the center, top side of the tank (see earlier photos) but found that having a 90 degree nipple on the top caused an air bubble to get trapped and prevent a accurate read. So i moved it to the PETCOCK side of the tank.

One reason the petcock side is so i know how much fuel the bike has at the petcock. If i were to run out, i could lean the bike WAY over on its right side and drain some fuel from the left side to get me a few more miles.

It reads pretty damn close to empty, and pretty damn close to full and everywhere in between.

I dig it, little different. Kinda wish the fuel was a little darker though.

The Dice you see under the speedo is also functional as my tach. I mean not REALLY functional, but it spins all cool like when the engines running
Guess the only purpose is if you were deaf, and perhaps have no working nervous system to FEEL the bike running, you could look at at that and see its on. HA

I almost did that with my tach. Instead I just tapped the housing and put a bolt in to delete the whole works.

Both bikes are using stock 1980 gs1000g tanks. No mods to the tank at all.

Glad to hear you like it. If it's helpful to one person, my job is done

I cant ride this bike anywhere wiithout people looking at it. I even have people talk to me WHILE riding down the road.

Im in the process of fixing up my buddys bike. He's also got an 80 gs1000g. Were going with a 50's rock a billy style for him. Ill post some photos of that one later.

                      Good luck with yours.

This tank is factory. Ive been trying to find another like it and its hard to come by. Wish i could find a spare.

Looking at your ebay bike, That tank is different. Might be larger. On my tank, the very front isnt cut out for the neck to fit in. It has a normal tunnel like a typical tank.

Nah the front fender is staying the way it is. Just cause i ride in the rain enough.

Tha back fender is so short that i get peged in the head with water and small stones all the time
If a crouch over enough, it all goes right over the top of me.

Peopple look at me like im a moron when im riding down the road through puddles with my chin on the tank.
                                HA HA HA
