Did a little playing with the top triple tree. Drilled and shaved for the hell of it. A little more sanding before paint.

      write up please

how did you lower the front ? Never seen this way. Did you have to cut springs or just that piece? Need a couple of inches out of mine so I would love some input.

Hey man, looking good. How much did you take outta those forks? I still havent decided on a stock 19" wire rim of a 21". I dont wanna change my rake more than what I have but hate that 70s look of the front all jacked up.

Yeah - gotta say I haven't seen anyone cut and shut the damper rod before. Makes sense though.

If you don't want to cut the rod, you can put a spacer under the damper spring and this will have the same effect in lowering the forks. Take the same amount out of the upper spacer / spring and you're good to go

          And nice work bro
          Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

          Past:
          VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

I just cut the damper, 2 inches. I have not put the new seals in so there is no oil. The front end seems to bottom out easy. I am not sure how much the oil will change that. I read that you could cut the springs to stiffen the rebound. I may change the damper back to stock and try cutting the springs. I have a spare front end to play with.

Tank after some mods. Shaved the seam and welded.

Welded some 1/8th " plate down the middle to replicate the rear fender. Not finished but gettin' there. I am going to do the same with the pop up gas cap.

This is my 450 headlight. Filled in the holes and flipped the light sideways to mount it. I cut, filed and welded the mount from 1/4" aluminum. Wanted to try something different.

Got the seat pan and suspension done. Airbag from a Harley Police bike. Works good. I can't wait to get some padding on the seat. A little grinding and finishing on the pan and she is good to go.

Working on the rear fender and brake caliper stay. 30's Ford spare trim cover for the fender. I am going to run a chain tensioner and this is what I think I am going to do with the caliper. Clean I think and out of the way.

Does anybody have an idea of how to fix the way the header hangs down and doesn't run flush across the bottom of the bike? I was thinking of shaving the header at a slight angle where it attaches to the head. I thought this solve the problem.

Actually on that bike using a stock style or 4to 2 exhaust will work better than that 4to1 that kicks out underneath. You will have absolutely no ground clearance. ran into the same problem on my gs rigid. Also think about hanging your rear caliper below the axle line on the bottom of the lower drop out instead of on top of the upper dropuout for a cleaner, less cluttered look on the rear wheel. Unless you like the look you shouldn't need a chain tensioner. seen many an asian rigid without one.

i was having a similar issue. I was running the same header as you untill i cut off the collecter to make four single pipes. I would scrape the pipes on every curb (driveway not parking lot ) Unless i had the front aired up a bit.

2 into 1 is the way to go i think. Keeps everything on the side.

As for cutting the top at the block, i think that would pull that up a bit and match lines up better but better make damn sure the cuts are perfect otherwise your exhaust seals wont do a damn thing.

By the was that headlight mount is SWEET!! I like the sideways style. Very origional. Keep up the work man!

Im curious about the spring setup you have here. I was origionally thinking it was an air spring of some sort, then i thought you were just mocking it up then i saw the bolt in the pan on the top. So it looks pretty permenent. Im interested.

                                Is that a racket ball?!
