78 750 Bobber Project

Yea it is a miniature air bag from a Harley. The same type of thing you see on a mini truck. I guess they use these on a police model they make.

Im curious about the spring setup you have here. I was origionally thinking it was an air spring of some sort, then i thought you were just mocking it up then i saw the bolt in the pan on the top. So it looks pretty permenent. Im interested.

I will check that out. That front end and wheels are all harley. -4" springer. The neck was machined on a lathe and will except Honda CB750 and Harley bearing cups. That frame was basicaly copied from the Super Bobber frame sold by cycle exchange. They have alot of Honda CB stuff. I was originally going to do a CB750, but I came across this Suzuki. Cycle exchange sells the machine necks for a reasonable price.

okay so i ws looking on cycle exchange for the weld on cb 750 necks to use for a sprringer setup.

I couldnt find any on there. Am i missing something?

You have some serious welding skills, I'm jealous to say the least. Love the headlight mount. I like that you've used many of the factory parts to make it unique. Definitely a head turner. PROPS to ya man, keep up the good work.

Thanks, money is something I don't have alot of, time on the other hand is plentiful. I think this is where the coolest stuff comes from.

I've got a set of stock exhaust off of a '79 gs850 shafty--not perfect, but great for your bobber--I can chop off the mufflers to save on shipping--would swap them for the 4-2-1 header you have--send me a pm with your email and i'll send you some pics--BTW--digging your bobber--very kool!--heres my vstar 1100 bobber--thanks!

Got a few more things finished. Got the rear fender mounted using some steel from Tractor supply. Have some grinding and sanding left to do.

Decided to flip the rear caliper and mount it below. I plan to shave the original mount from the caliper.

Last for now is the battery box. I probably spent to much time on this peice, but that seems to happen alot with me. 1/8" plate cut, drilled, tig welded, grinded and filed.

I really dig on your fender/seat mount idea and the battery box. All those holes remind me of some of the old drag cars of the early 60's. They hade so many holes in the frame and such, they nicknamed them swiss cheese cars. You have some GREAT fab skills and ideas. My welding sucks. I can cut, fit, bend and hammer, but not weld worth a ****

Gotta get a welding machine and start practicing. I have only been welding on and off for about 2 years total. You can find lots of good info on the net. I used the hole technique because the metal I have been using was probably a little overkill and figured the holes would lighten it up a little and give it some style. Nice bike in the picture. Did you build it?

Me and a good friend built it. Thanks for the compliment. I did the cutting shaping and idea work. he did the welding and we both told each other what the other was doing wrong.. LOL. The tank and rear fender are original to the bike, just modified. Just wish we hadn't raked it so much. It is STOOPID low.
