cam shaft torque
Found a member with the Time Warp Vintage Motorcycle group here in Knoxville Tn that as drag raced kawasakis for about twenty years or so .Arel standup guy who has taken pity on me and is coming over to the house to help me sort the GS. He is looking for the valve depress he used to have for suzukis and believes the two valve kaws nd GS ' s are very similiar in concept and design, the bikes not the tools, and appears very knowledable. He says that the first step in the shim measurments is to torque the holders for the camshaft.Just a precaution ,but he wants to make sure the bolts are fully down so as not to get a false reading.Sounds logical but now I need the specs for the bolts.Anyone know?We will do the other items on the Mega welcome as well.A retired ,bored friend will be a welcome find!!!!I will post pics soonTags: None

I suggest you go to Basscliffs site and download a service manual.
BTW, the camshaft cap bolts are not prone to loosening, but they are prone to stripping due to corrosion down in the threads.Ed
To measure is to know.

You're likely to ge a false reading if you just torque them after having been installed for so long. I seems unnecessary, but if you insist I would suggest you loosen, then torque.

And don't bother with the shim removal tool, just use a folded zip-tie stuck down the plug hole, under the lip of an opened valve. Works GREAT.
