My GS1000 project almost done
I have been working on this project for a while and it's almost done. My goal was to get the bike weight down to 350 but I got in down to 377 maybe a little less. I figured next winter I will take all but first and second gear out of the transmission and that should cut a couple of lbs.

You going to leave that crank end just spinning in the wind? Won't that bend it the first time the bike is dumped on the left side? How about hacking off the end? Might save the engine.Ed

Yes, hill climb...which means he is going to be dumping the bike after many failed climb attempts...which means that crank end is going to get hammered.Ed

The hills they use for this sport will be mostly dirt, so the crank shouldn't take any more of a beating than anything else.
Dirt is hard to climb, rock is much easier. Check out the hills in Moab for big mounds of rock. Beautiful and easy.
Gotta' add here that looks like a lot of fun. Which events are you planning to attend?Last edited by Guest; 03-27-2009, 11:02 AM.
