    calling all skunk owners...

I'm after a set of decals for my project. Its almost finished, but I need a set of skunk-style decals for it and I cant find them anywhere

I noticed Reproduction Decals get a few mentions, but they don't have this style I also notice the guys at AFEGraphics get a few mentions as well, but again, as Borat would say "No dice" on the skunks.

If anyone has a link for me could they post it please

    thanks a bunch guys

Ian, i bought a set of Skunk decals from Reproduction Decals last year.
I am assuming your Australian graphics are different?
Can you show us a pic of what they should look like?

These guys were highly recommended to me. http://www.collideascope.com.au/

They are bike smash repairers but apparently they are great at repro decals too.

      It won't hurt to ask.

What style are you looking for?

In the US, the skunk is the black E model with the white stripe and gold pinstriping

Some folks call the standard models skunks based upon the side stripe - blue/blue or red/red, both with gold pinstriping

          What colors does yours have?

          And where are your pictures?
          1978 GS 1000 (since new)
1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
          1978 GS 1000 (parts)
          1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
          1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
          1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)

sorry for the confusion guys. This is what I'm after:

            and:

I was led to believe this was a skunk-scheme, but I haven't been here long.

Do these look familiar? Should be the Aussie model, but I can't tell if there was an orange stripe along the bottom like I've seen at Reproduction decals? They don't have the stripe on the top however, and there was a matching stripe on the tail-piece.

            thanks guys

Thanks for that, I'll give them a try, but I suspect they'll need a source to copy from, and I don't have anything other than some pics. You never know, I may be able to re-do them in Illustrator. They aren't that complicated.

              cheers

Hey Steve, do you have a pic of the finished project? I'm guessing you didn't get the top-of-tank stripe?

                  cheers

Those are different than the US model. No top graphics at all, white main stripe, 2 pinstripes and a gold badge on black background.

Check the Gallery - I'm sure there's lots of skunks there.

I dunno if the Aus version was different, or a PO changed things on yours

Those pin stripes would be easy to replicate using common pinstrip tape available in auto parts stores. The white strip could be painted.

I used gold pinstrip to replicate the factory finish on the 550 tank below. First photo shows before final clear coat - when the pin stripes were applied.

gee. that turned out nice Ed.

I guess if push came to shove, the only bit that would be tricky to paint would be the GS lettering on the top.

I just thought someone might know of a source for decals?

                        cheers

                          OK. The story continues...

I managed to get a set of the correct decals from these guys:

and this is how they turned out:

We're nearly done with the bike now, and the rest of it is at the mechanics who's offered to set the valve clearances before we fire her up. Don't want to bang those new wiseco pistons into a valve or something

You can read more about it here if you're interested:

                          cheers

The tank and decals look great, as do the "shiny bits"
What exhaust are you putting on?

Thanks Steve. For the time being, we're just using an old 4-1 that was on the bike, but the plan is to get a Meagcycle unit built once we have it on the road. Our options here are limited, but these guys custom make systems at a reasonable price.
